1. The service

BeforeDrive is a mobile utility that guides users through photographing a rental vehicle at pickup and return, stores evidence locally, and can generate an evidence pack for the user to export or share.

2. Your responsibility

You are responsible for checking the vehicle, rental agreement and rental company's procedures. You should report significant damage, safety issues or discrepancies directly to the rental company when appropriate. BeforeDrive is an additional record, not a replacement for contractual inspection or reporting requirements.

3. Evidence limitations

BeforeDrive may record photos, timestamps, optional location metadata and file hashes. These features can help organise and identify files but do not make the evidence tamper-proof, legally certified or independently witnessed. A SHA-256 hash identifies file content; it does not by itself prove when, where or by whom a photo was taken.

Network, GNSS, NTP and OpenTimestamps references are corroborating signals only. Their availability, accuracy and continued operation depend on the device, network and third-party services, and they do not constitute a qualified legal timestamp.

4. Safe and lawful use

Use the app only when it is safe and lawful to do so. Do not take photos while driving. Respect local laws, private-property rules and the privacy of other people. Avoid intentionally capturing people, identity documents, payment cards or unrelated sensitive information unless genuinely necessary for your own rental record.

5. Local storage and backups

Core evidence is designed to remain on your device until you export or share it. You are responsible for keeping your device and exported files secure and for retaining any evidence you may need. Uninstalling the app, clearing app storage, device loss, operating-system failures or other technical events may delete local evidence.

6. Sharing

When you choose to share an evidence pack or file, Android passes it to the destination you select. You are responsible for choosing the recipient and for any subsequent storage, processing or disclosure by that destination.

7. Purchases

BeforeDrive offers one complete rental at no charge followed by a one-time lifetime unlock through Google Play. Pricing and availability are shown before purchase. Purchases are processed by Google Play and are also subject to Google's applicable purchase terms. Any refunds are handled according to applicable law and the purchase platform's rules.

8. No affiliation

BeforeDrive is an independent product and is not endorsed by or affiliated with any rental-car company, insurer or vehicle manufacturer merely because a company or brand name is entered or appears in user-created evidence.

9. Availability and changes

The app may be updated, changed or discontinued. Features can vary by device, Android version, permissions, connectivity and third-party platform behaviour. Reasonable efforts are made to keep the app functional, but uninterrupted or error-free operation is not guaranteed.

10. Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, BeforeDrive is provided without a guarantee that evidence will prevent charges, resolve a dispute or be accepted by a third party. Nothing in these terms excludes rights or liabilities that cannot legally be excluded or limited.

11. Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated when the product, purchase model or applicable requirements change. The effective date above will be updated when material changes are published.
